So here's the story of my vinyl addiction. ....
The year was about 1996 I was a NJHC kid (which is always up to debate to the OGHC guys) going to see shows at the Stone Pony, The Casino Skatepark, the Saint all in Asbury Park and making sure I travelled to all the major places in NYC as well. We all know the merch table has a draw to all of us we cannot explain, we need to see the tour t's and the vinyl that these bands had for the appropriate tour.
I would always look at vinyl and buy the bands I loved. These were the 7 original records I had bought and would later end up in a box in my mother's garage for me to find in 2008 or 2009 and reignite my interest in vinyl.
Hatebreed- Under the Knife ltd Edition 2 of 500.
I feel this record came to me at a show that Hatebreed wasn't even playing at. I'm going to say it was at the Hunka Bunka Ballroom (now Starland Ballroom) in Sayreville, NJ. I bought it for like 4 bucks because I loved these 4 songs.
E-Town Concrete- Fuck The World
This record I bought at the now closed Soundwaves music store in Manasquan NJ on 6/26/2000 for $8.47 after school at 4.24pm. How do I know this? I know this because I was a nerd and put the original receipt in the sleeve when I bought it. I still love ETC and they are a HC guilty pleasure of mine.....
Ten Yard Fight- Demo 1995, Hardcore Pride.
I wish I could remember the details of where I got these records because I bet it was some VFW hall. I have a feeling it was at a Floorpunch/In My Eyes show (also hazy on this fact too) because there was so much sXe merch/vinyl for sale at these shows.
Ensign- Fall From Grace
Another purchase lost in my memory, I bought it most likely due to the labels with the Garden State Hardcore logo on them
Diversity- To Live in Fear
A friend of mine's band from high school, the lead singer is part of another band at this point and they are quite good. They may be a topic of a future post.......
